Analysis of a crime dramas.- The wire

REPRESENTATION

The Wire:

Narrative: We see a policeofficer investigating on some matter which is yet unrevealed to the audience.
The policeofficer is following a car and taking pictures of it. Back at the office the same case is being dealt with in more depth.
We then see someone laying on the floor dead with pills next to her hands.

Mise-en-scene:

Setting: on the streets
empty place- not much peopple to be seen
inside the office.

Genre: crime drama, we see police
suicide
police cars
gangsters ( hard boys)

Props: Mobile phones
police cars
police badges
computers
pathologist lab
pills
camera
ciggarettes

Sound: Music/ song playing througout
Music seems old/ 80's music

Camera: p.o.v (point of view) shots
high angel shot of helicopter
Zoom in of the can when taking pictures.
tracking left/right when showing the lab.

Editing: montage sequence throughout opening
credits
shot-reverse-shot of scene- outside then to inside- office/lab
